Drinking Water

Ensuring Safe Water. Strengthening Communities.

Ensuring Safe Water. Strengthening Communities.

Access to safe drinking water is fundamental to health, dignity, and sustainable development. Yet, many rural and tribal communities across Maharashtra continue to face recurring water shortages due to declining groundwater levels, inadequate infrastructure, erratic rainfall, and prolonged droughts. Women and children often travel long distances to fetch water, while schools, healthcare institutions, and livestock suffer from unreliable water supplies.

At Janvikas Samajik Sanstha (JVSS), we believe that every community deserves reliable access to safe drinking water. Building on our soil and water conservation initiatives, we develop sustainable water infrastructure that improves water availability for households, schools, public institutions, and livestock. Our interventions not only address immediate water needs but also strengthen long-term water security for future generations.

Borewell Development

Groundwater is often the primary source of drinking water in rural areas. JVSS supports the construction of borewells in water-scarce villages, creating reliable and sustainable sources of drinking water for communities. These borewells provide year-round access to safe water while reducing dependence on seasonal rainfall.

Well Development & Rehabilitation

Traditional wells continue to serve as vital water sources for many villages. JVSS undertakes the construction, restoration, and rehabilitation of wells to improve water availability and enhance groundwater storage. Combined with watershed interventions, these wells continue to provide dependable water even during periods of low rainfall.

Village Water Supply Systems

Providing a water source alone is not enough. Water must reach every household safely and efficiently. JVSS develops village water supply systems by laying pipelines from wells, borewells, and other water sources to villages, ensuring equitable access to safe drinking water for rural families.

Water Storage Infrastructure

Water storage is critical for maintaining a continuous water supply throughout the year. JVSS constructs RCC overhead tanks, ground-level storage tanks, and community water storage systems that increase storage capacity and improve the reliability of village water supply systems. These structures play a vital role during summer months and periods of drought by ensuring uninterrupted water availability.

Drinking Water for Schools & Institutions

Educational institutions require reliable water supply to maintain hygiene, sanitation, and healthy learning environments. JVSS supports schools, residential hostels, and other public institutions by developing drinking water facilities, installing storage tanks, and improving water supply systems that benefit students, teachers, and staff.

Building Water-Secure Communities

Water security is about more than infrastructure. It is about creating sustainable systems that continue to serve communities for generations. By integrating drinking water initiatives with watershed development and groundwater recharge, JVSS helps villages become more resilient to drought while improving public health, sanitation, education, and overall quality of life.
