Creating Sustainable Livelihoods. Restoring Dignity.
At Janvikas Samajik Sanstha, we believe that lasting development begins with economic independence. A stable source of income enables families to access better education, healthcare, nutrition, and a life of dignity.
For more than two decades, we have been working across Maharashtra to help economically vulnerable families, women, youth, small and marginal farmers, and rural entrepreneurs establish sustainable livelihood opportunities. Our approach goes beyond financial assistance. We identify each family’s strengths, provide the resources they need, build their skills, and connect them with long-term opportunities that enable them to become self-reliant.
Thousands of families have transformed their lives through our livelihood interventions by starting small businesses, reviving agricultural activities, and building reliable sources of income.
Our Approach
Across Maharashtra, our livelihood initiatives have enabled thousands of families to build sustainable sources of income and improve their quality of life.
Establishment of thousands of micro-enterprises
Increased household income and financial security
Employment and self-employment opportunities for rural youth
Improved access to financial services and government schemes
What We Do

Women Entrepreneurship
We have supported thousands of women in establishing micro-enterprises that provide a steady source of income for their families by assisting them in starting businesses based on their interests, local demand, and available resources such as grocery (Kirana) shops, fruit and vegetable businesses, fish vending, poultry farming, goat rearing, buffalo and dairy farming, tailoring and stitching units through sewing machine support, and small home-based enterprises while simultaneously providing entrepreneurship guidance, financial literacy training, and market orientation to help their businesses grow sustainably.

Skill Development Enterprise Promotion
While young people often possess the willingness to work, they frequently lack access to skills, equipment, or start-up capital; to bridge this gap, our programme equips youth with vocational skills and provides enterprise support in trades such as motor winding and electrical repair, borewell installation services, technical repair services, small business development, and self-employment ventures, while also facilitating start-up capital, essential tools, equipment, and mentoring where required to help them successfully establish their own livelihood activities.

Agriculture & Farmer Support
Because many small and marginal farmers struggle due to limited financial resources, inadequate tools, or crop losses that prevent them from cultivating their land, we support farming families by providing agricultural tools and equipment, quality seeds and essential farm inputs, land development and repair assistance, support to restart cultivation, productivity enhancement interventions, and guidance on improved farming practices, with the ultimate objective of helping them restore agricultural productivity, improve income, and strengthen long-term resilience.

Enterprise Development & Income Generation
Because many families possess the motivation to start a business but lack the financial resources to take the first step, Janvikas Samajik Sanstha provides need-based support that enables individuals to establish sustainable income-generating activities through business start-up assistance, essential tools and equipment, working capital support, small enterprise development, and business mentoring and follow-up support—helping beneficiaries build long-term economic independence across everything from neighbourhood grocery stores to service-based businesses and rural enterprises.

Capacity Building
Recognizing that sustainable livelihoods require knowledge as much as resources, we regularly organise training programmes on entrepreneurship development, skill enhancement, financial literacy, business planning, digital and banking services, market linkages, government welfare schemes, and livestock and agriculture management to strengthen the confidence and capabilities of beneficiaries, enabling them to manage and expand their livelihoods effectively.

Government Scheme Linkages
We assist eligible beneficiaries in accessing government welfare and livelihood schemes, institutional credit, financial services, and other development programmes. By connecting communities with existing public resources, we help maximise opportunities for long-term economic growth.
